About Alma Mater

An independent international university under academic patronage of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Salzburg.

Alma Mater Europaea University is an independent and internationally recognised higher education institution under academic patronage of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, Austria. The Academy unites more than 2,000 leading scientists from around the world, including 37 Nobel laureates.

Under the patronage of the Academy, the university works to build a new international leadership community contributing to education, culture, the economy, law, healthcare, artificial intelligence and environmental protection.

More than 2,000 students from over 30 countries study at Alma Mater Europaea. The largest campus is in Maribor, with over 1,000 students from more than 20 countries, the same city that hosts the on-site part of the It’s About People conference.

Career-oriented education

The university concentrates on career-oriented study, with an emphasis on professions that are in demand and in short supply. Programmes are tied to fast-growing industries, so students have clear career prospects from the moment they enrol, and graduate employability is one of the university’s guiding priorities.

Academic standards and quality

Programmes are designed in line with the requirements of the accreditation bodies of the Republic of Slovenia and with international quality standards. Content is reviewed and updated regularly, and quality is assessed through internal and external self-evaluation.

Teaching is interdisciplinary, modern and interactive. Methods follow international standards and allow flexible study that can be combined with existing professional commitments.

Mission and vision

The university’s stated mission is to develop and deliver applied study programmes that meet the needs of the economy in Slovenia and Central Europe, particularly in shortage occupations, and to advance teaching and research that spreads knowledge and builds cooperation with European universities.

Its vision is to become an internationally recognised centre of excellence addressing the region’s key economic, technological, health and environmental challenges, while promoting sustainable development, peace, democracy and intercultural cooperation.
