Štefan Luby
Senior Research Fellow at the Slovak Academy of Sciences
14 March 2024 at 16:00 – 17:00 CET
Štefan Luby, a renowned Slovak physicist, researcher, and academic, will highlight groundbreaking developments in nanomedicine, including targeted drug delivery with nanoparticles, antibacterial nanomaterials, disease diagnostics with nanosensors and electronic noses, and the potential of hydrogen monotherapy with antioxidant effects.
»The progress of nanomedicine as one of the crucial fields of nanotechnology is fascinating. It is connected with about 10 nanotechnology milestones, among which at least nanoparticle drug delivery should be mentioned. Nanomedicine applies a wide range of metal-, oxide- and polymer-based materials, nanomaterials from the carbon family, etc.«
His presentation will cover a wide range of materials used in nanomedicine, including metal, oxide, and polymer-based nanoparticles and those from the carbon family. Luby will focus on the growing use of spherical nanoparticles that can be deposited into regular arrays and will delve into the fastest-growing segments of nanomedicine. He will explore targeted drug delivery to specific organs and tumors, applications of antimicrobial nanoparticles, and the diagnosis of various diseases using nanosensors, primarily through electronic noses supported by artificial intelligence.
