The evolving role of pharmacists brings new challenges, demanding innovative teaching in pharmacy education. The University of Pavia introduced role-playing of clinical cases in the 4th-year curriculum to enhance pharmacological knowledge, dispensing, and counseling skills. Small student groups act as patients, caregivers, or pharmacists, creating real-life cases using provided medications. A multidisciplinary jury of pharmacologists, physicians, and pharmacists perform, record, and evaluate scenes. As Prof. Marialaura Amadio explains, this approach optimizes dispensing, deepens pharmacological knowledge, improves personalized medicine, and enhances therapy adherence. The goal is to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and awareness of real-life challenges in pharmacy practice.
