Explore the cutting-edge research on the Impact of Lower-Limb Cognitive-Motor exercise telerehabilitation on Fall Prevention and Neural Mechanisms in Parkinson’s Disease Patients.
Telerehabilitation (TR) utilizes technology to deliver traditional rehabilitation remotely, integrating exergames—interactive, physical activity-based games—to improve patient engagement and quality of life (QoL). Specifically, lower-limb cognitive-motor exergame platforms have shown promise for patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD), helping to enhance cognitive and motor skills, prevent falls, and improve QoL.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a 12-week lower-limb cognitive-motor exergame TR program for PD patients. Participants will undergo five weekly 15-20-minute sessions, with pre-and post-testing, to assess the program’s impact on cognitive and motor functions. Special attention will be given to gait initiation using a modified Go/No-Go dual-task paradigm, and electroencephalography (EEG) will be used to monitor brain activity and analyze beta-band desynchronization (BD) as a marker of motor planning.
