It’s About People 2024

It’s About People 2024 continued to be one of the year’s most pivotal international scholarly events in Europe. The conference, themed Sustainability and Dignity in Service of Humanity, was inaugurated by Dubravka Šuica, Vice President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography. The event, organized by Alma Mater Europaea – ECM in collaboration with the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, welcomed over 250 authors from more than 30 countries. Distinguished participants included leading academics from Harvard, Stanford, University College London, and ETH Zürich. Discussions centered on the global demographic shifts, the necessity of intergenerational solidarity, and the challenges posed by technological advancements. European Commission Vice President Šuica emphasized the importance of preparing for future crises and fostering lifelong learning to adapt to rapid technological progress. The conference also featured keynote speeches from prominent figures, such as Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Borut Pahor, former President of Slovenia.

It’s About People 2023 was one of the year’s most significant international scholarly events in Europe. Under the theme Social and Technological Development in Service of Security and Dignity, it hosted leading scholars and thought leaders, including Vice President of the European Commission Mariya Gabriel, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts’ President and Honorary President Klaus Mainzer and Felix Unger, and representatives of national academies. Many professors from top universities participated as speakers, including Martin Kemp from University of Oxford, Fred R. Volkmar from Yale University and Marinka Žitnik from Harvard University. World-renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University gave the keynote lecture. Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, opened the event.

Under the theme Embracing Digital Transformation for a Sustainable and Ethical Future, it hosted leading scholars and thought leaders, including Vice Presidents of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič and Dubravka Šuica, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts’ President and Honorary President Klaus Mainzer and Felix Unger, and representatives of national academies. The Oxford University Faculty of Law Dean, Mindy Chen-Wishart, gave the keynote lecture. The President of Slovenia Borut Pahor opened the event.
